This is Holmes' parents' shortcake recipe--I think Mrs Bryan cut the dough into nice round cakes.  They are thin, crispy and rich!  Two sticks of butter and two cups of flour makes a nice batch.  Top with strawberries and cool whip or whipped cream.

Grandpa’s Shortcake

1 stick butter per cup of flour
3-6 teaspoons cold water

Mix flour and butter with fork, add water and continue mixing until a smooth dough.  Roll out on a floured board, cut out and bake for 15-18 minutes at 400º.
